Background of WCAC

Background of WCAC

“World Chinese Accountants Conference - Opportunities of Belt Road Initiative (WCAC)”, the first of its kind, will be launched by the Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors (SCAA) on 18-22 May 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention Centre and in Beijing, with  an expected attendance in the region of 500.

Since the unveiling of the Belt Road Initiative in 2013, it has become the key development strategy of the PRC government. SCAA believes that Hong Kong could build on  this historic opportunity to leverage its status as China’s most cosmopolitan city while Belt Road Initiative brings vast opportunities to accountants around the globe. Under the Belt Road Initiative, accountants would play an important role in developing the financial sector in many of the Belt Road countries for furthering the growth of their economies. Chinese accountants from all over the world, in particular, are well positioned to take advantage of the governmental efforts in Belt Road Initiative due to cultural proximity, local expertise and East meets West perspectives. On one hand, they can contribute to Belt Road Initiative with their professional expertise and on the other, they can benefit from exploring the plentiful and diverse opportunities that arise through close collaborations with the Belt Road countries/cities.

Against this backdrop, SCAA, being one of the leading accountancy bodies in Hong Kong with a history of 105 years, is  indeed well-placed to act as the convenor to serve as the bridge for accountants along the Belt Road countries.

In line with our visions, the WCAC to be launched in May 2018 will provide the perfect platform whereby the aims of connecting accountants from all over the world, encouraging the exchange of professional knowledge and ideas and promoting to Belt Road countries international standard accounting system and practices could be achieved.  As the convenor of WCAC, SCAA will act in concert with and show full support in the promotion of  Belt Road Initiative and take a proactive role to unite   with Chinese accountants in Hong Kong and those in the Belt Road  countries  to further the objectives of WCAC.

WCAC marks the beginning of SCAA as a key supporter of Belt Road Initiative. Going forward, SCAA will work endlessly with Belt Road countries/cities through contributing professional advice in finance and accounting issues of both domestic and international concerns.
